 Social Sciences Department - College of Arts and Sciences Bachelor Programs in Social Sciences: The Department of Social Sciences shares in the general responsibilities of the College of Arts and Sciences to provide the core general education of all Ferris State University college students. The Department of Social Sciences has specific and primary general education responsibility for the SOCIAL AWARENESS education of all Ferris State college students. The Department of Social Sciences strives: - To develop undergraduate and graduate college students' critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills through exposure to the body of social scientific theory and research methods for examining human behavior;
- To engage undergraduate and graduate college students in the critical application of social scientific expertise to current societal issues, and to acquaint college social sciences students with the principles essential to making informed moral and ethical choices in an increasingly multicultural and global environment.
- To run high-quality social science college academic major programs to meet the workforce needs of the state of Michigan, the nation, and beyond.
- To promote civic engagement through the following Centers of Excellence:
Jim Crow Museum, the Community Studies Institute, and the Animal Cognition Laboratory.
