Offered through the Printing and Imaging Technology Management Department, the Printing Technology associates degree program addresses small business management, job planning, estimating, and marketing. Embracing the rapidly changing business environment, the Ferris digital printing technology degree program prepares the future printing technician for the rigors of changing technology and printing processes. Today's printing technology major must be knowledgeable about all traditional printing methods as well as new advancements in digital printing, and digital graphics technology to remain competitive. More than 80 percent of the digital printing technology companies in the United States employ less than 50 employees. This allows graduates of Ferris State University's Printing and Digital Graphic Imaging Technology degree program excellent opportunities to stay close to the printing technology, people and business operations involved in digital graphics printing technology. While most Printing and Digital Graphic Imaging Technology graduates continue their studies by gaining a bachelor of science degree in either Printing Management or New Media Printing and Publishing from Ferris, those who don't will find many great job opportunities in the printing industry with an average starting hourly wage of $12.00.
Admission to the College of Technology is open to high school
graduates who demonstrate academic preparedness, maturity and
seriousness of purpose with backgrounds appropriate to their chosen
program of studies. Among first-time students in our technical
programs, the average high school GPA is 2.8, and the average ACT
composite score is 20.
Students wanting to enroll in any of the programs in the Printing and
Imaging Technology Management Department at Ferris may begin in either
fall or winter semester. Applicants must be serious-minded students who
have completed high school or other college courses with a minimum 2.0
GPA. Students with the highest ACT scores are admitted first.
The Printing and Digital Graphic Imaging Technology program at Ferris terminates with an associate in applied science degree but leads to a bachelor of science degree in Printing Management or New Media Printing and Publishing. Graduation requires a minimum 2.0 GPA in core classes, in the major and overall. Students must complete all general education requirements as outlined on the General Education website.
