Program OverviewMarketing is a basic function of business. It stimulates demand for goods and services while providing product development, packaging, distribution, advertising, pricing and consumer credit functions. With marketing costs estimated as high as 50 percent of sales, and marketing positions providing over 25 percent of jobs to the civilian labor force, there is no question that marketing activities influence beliefs, lifestyles and buying patterns. The primary emphasis of the program is problem solving. Marketing students take a variety of courses, including management, transportation and accounting. Advertising and public relations classes are more advanced and focus on communication while others emphasize research, statistics and data analysis. Students also are exposed to the fundamentals of selling, retailing and consumer behavior. Contact InformationFerris State University, Marketing 119 S.
