Graphic Design
Graphic design is the organization of visual information for printed material, exhibits, signage, and architectural graphics as well as for interactive media and web media applications. It is the combination of art and technology to communicate ideas. By working with color, type and imagery, the graphic designer creates and manages the production of graphic design and web media communication pieces designed to inform and persuade a specific audience.
The Graphic Design program at Ferris State University provides an intense curriculum within a combined academic and professional environment. It is one of the few design programs in the nation within a college of business, which exposes students to business and marketing practices.
The job placement statistics of our graduates are excellent: graduates enter careers in print, environmental, package, signage, exhibit, interactive media, and website design. This success in design education is attributed to our curriculum and faculty—a curriculum that emphasizes the development and application of conceptual and perceptual skills and a faculty composed of designers with professional experience.
The content and direction of our program encourages practical application of traditional and contemporary techniques in studio settings. Our facilities consist of design and drawing studios, as well as state of the art computer and production labs.
