Computer Information Systems (CIS)

A Bachelor of Science degree offered through the College of Business. It prepares students to be managers of computing systems by providing programming systems analysis, network administration, and database management skills. The CIS curriculum provides students with a broad understanding of core business functions, computer programming, information technology infrastructure and systems analysis and design. Industry internships are required for practical hands-on experience. Entry requirements: high school grade point average of 2.5; ACT scores in math and reading of 19 or higher.

A two-year associate degree in CIS is also offered where students learn technology skills that lead to a variety of jobs including: PC support, network support, programming or Web development/ Entry requirements: high school grade point average of 2.25 and ACT scores in math and reading of 17 or higher.

Computer Networks and Systems

A Bachelor of Science degree through the College of Technology prepares students for a variety of jobs including: applications engineer, automation engineer, computer/microprocessor engineer, controls engineer, digital engineer, LAN/WAN engineer, network administrator, network engineer and network security engineer. Students study electronics, digital/microprocessor theory and design, real-time programming and network theory, design and implementation. In collaboration with the College of Business CIS program, a minor in CIS is offered. Entry requirements: high school diploma, two years of mathematics including algebra and trigonometry and minimum ACT math sub-score of 19. Recommended: laboratory science preferably physics and fundamental knowledge of personal computers.

Applied Mathematics with a concentration in Computer Science

A Bachelor of Science degree through the Department of Mathematics, includes 11 credits in Computer Science. A minor in Computer Science (20-21 credits) is also offered. Students learn programming language, computer architecture, microprocessor-controlled equipment and local area networks. Students will learn to write programs, develop algorithms and design software. Entry requirements: open to high school graduates who demonstrate academic preparedness, maturity and focus with appropriate educational backgrounds. High school grade point average, ACT composite score and ACT reading and mathematics sub-scores are considered for admission. Transfer student entry requirements: 12 credits with a minimum 2.0 grade point average including an English and mathematics course.
