Insurance is one of life’s “required essentials.” Everybody needs it: individuals, businesses, governmental units, and non-profit organizations. The industry offers a multitude of career options such as underwriting, loss control, claims investigation, risk management, actuarial, and insurance agents.  The industry hires during strong and weak economic times, and provides for a rewarding life on several levels.  The industry and its employees help people and businesses to avoid disasters and rebuild lives when disasters are unavoidable.  The Insurance and Risk Management program at Ferris thoroughly covers:

• Risk Management Principles
• Property and Casualty
• Employee Benefits
• Personal Insurance
• Insurance Company Operations

Students completing this program will earn a Bachelor of Science in Business – Insurance and Risk Management Degree. Plenty of internship and employment opportunities make this program especially attractive. There is also a certificate (12 credits) or a minor (18) to enhance any degree. Graduates will enjoy positions in computer technology, operations, customer service, and marketing, actuary science, management, and risk analysis, just to name a few. The future is very bright in this profession. Courses in this program are delivered in Big Rapids and some are offered on-line.

In addition to existing regional and state accreditation, this program will qualify and apply for ACBSP professional accreditation upon graduation of its first cohort.
