Professional Student Organization – AITP
Students are strongly encouraged to join the student chapter of the Association for Information Technology Professionals (AITP). Membership sets you apart from other graduates who are not involved in a professional student group, and provides networking opportunities with peers and IT professionals. Educational opportunities are provided through this group by attending the West Michigan professional AITP chapter monthly meeting, site visits to learn about current technology at various companies, and speakers attending the student chapter meetings.
Ferris’s student chapter of AITP attend the National Collegiate Conference (NCC) every year. This conference gives students to compete in many competitions and attend workshops to learn about emerging technologies and they are used in business. Some highlights for the competitions have been:
- A Ferris team placed 4th out of 55 teams and received an Honorable Mention ribbon in the Network Design Contest.
- Two students scored the highest score in the last 10 years on the ACP exam.
Many of the Ferris students attending NCC become certified by taking and passing the nationally-recognized Associate Computer Professional (ACP) exam from the Institute for Certification of Computer Professionals (ICCP).
- A student placed in the top 10 for PC troubleshooting out of 100+ competitors.
