High School Cyber Competition

October 30, 2018

The Ferris State Information Security and Intelligence program hosted two high school competitions in the fall of 2018. Approximately 200 students attended the events where they were introduced to a potential career in cyber security and data analysis. The students learned new skills in high demand areas such as visual data analysis and cryptography. Numerous schools from across west and northern Michigan participated. Students practiced their new skills in a three team capture the flag competition format where they scored points and captured countries by solving puzzles and challenges at varying degrees of complexity. Four more high school competitions are planned for the winter and spring of 2019. The program is anticipating over 600 students from over 15 high schools to participate during the 2018/2019 academic year.
