Professional activities and areas of interest
After receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics (Ferris State College ’82), Scott was accepted into the Navy’s Nuclear Propulsion Officer Candidate (NUPOC) Program where he spent the next 20 years. During his submarine service he earned the unique opportunity to train submarine enlisted and officers in the areas of nuclear engineering , operations analysis and submarine warfare. Before leaving the Navy he received a Master’s degree in nuclear engineering (University of Virginia ’00). Following retirement from the Navy he joined the Ferris Math Department in the fall of 2003 and Ferris Marketing Department in fall 2008 as an adjunct faculty member.
Scott teaches a variety of courses ranging from Intermediate Algebra, Calculus, Applied Calculus, Visual Basic Programing, Mathematical Statistics, and Business Statistics with a special interest in technical and developmental mathematics.
