Ferris American Marketing Association Chapter Recognized Internationally

The Ferris American Marketing Association (AMA) chapter was recognized as one of the top ten international AMA chapters at the AMA International Collegiate Conference. It also received awards for a variety of other accomplishments.
The conference, which took place April 11–13, 2019 in New Orleans, LA, included submissions of chapter reports from over 350 AMA collegiate chapters. The chapter plans and reports are reviewed and excellence within the chapters are recognized. There are six categories on which the chapters are rated: chapter planning, professional development, membership, community and social impact, fundraising and communications. Chapters can receive a certificate on the individual areas for excellence in each of those areas.
To be in the top 25, a chapter must be excellent in all six areas. The Ferris State University American Marketing Association Chapter was identified, not just as one of the top twenty-five chapters, but as one of the top ten international AMA chapters for the 2018–2019 academic year.
In addition to this major accomplishment the chapter also excelled and received awards in the following areas:
- Semi-Finalist in the 2018–2019 Case Competition on the Wall Street Journal.
- “Newscape,” the AMA Ferris Exhibit Booth, was awarded the 2nd Overall Best Exhibit Booth.
Exhibit Booths were judged on three criteria: Education value, communication of chapter activities and conference theme. Again, students could be recognized for any one of these areas. The top three exhibits were excellent in all three.
- 4th place (of 36 teams) for the Sabre business simulation.
- Recognition for hosting one of the regional conferences.
AMA Ferris is made up of students from 14 different majors. Individual Ferris students also excelled and received awards in the following areas:
- Keegan Brown earned 2nd in Perfect Pitch and 3rd in the Sales Competition.
- Lucy Reigle earned 3rd in Perfect Pitch.
- Zach Ineson earned 5th place Sales Student of Year.
- Ferris AMA President and Membership Vice President, were invited to and presented at the conference on Memberships.
“The students throughout the AMA chapter have developed professional and leadership skills that will help them as they begin their careers beyond Ferris State University,” said AMA Ferris Collegiate Faculty Advisor Donna Green. “The professional marketing association, the AMA, has recognized their strong achievements. I am proud to have been their case advisor in the Fall and this year their RSO advisor.”
Beyond their international recognition, AMA Ferris is well-known for their presence on campus. For six years in a row, it has been awarded Five Star recognition based on its ability to cultivate positive relationships throughout the community, engage fellow students in diverse programming, develop its members, and give back to the community in the form of volunteering or charitable donations. They hope to receive Five Star recognition for the seventh time this year.
