Why Major in Criminal Justice Corrections?
The criminal justice corrections degree emphasizes areas of criminal justice other
than law enforcement including adult institutions, probation, parole, and the prevention,
treatment, and control of both youthful and adult offenders. Criminal Justice Corrections
Degree coursework is designed to introduce various components that make up the structure
of criminal justice corrections and the broad area of social work and juvenile delinquency.
To major in the criminal justice corrections degree applicants must meet the minimum
education requirements for the position of corrections officer as established by the
Michigan Corrections Officers' Training Council.
A minimum GPA of 2.0 is required for admission into the criminal justice corrections
concentration.
Graduates from the criminal justice corrections concentration degree must complete
all of the Ferris State general education requirements as outlined in the General
Education section of the Ferris course catalog, and have an ACT math sub score of
24, or complete MATH 115 or pass the MATH proficiency exam.

About Ferris State University: College classes including our Criminal Justice Corrections Degree Program, are taught
at all levels by professional teachers, not graduate assistants. College students
that major in criminal justice concentration at Ferris State University, including
our Criminal Justice Corrections Concentration Program students, study in more than

Seven of the Ferris' Michigan colleges are based in Big Rapids, Michigan - Allied
Health Sciences, Arts and Sciences, College of Business, Education and Human Services,
Optometry, Pharmacy and Technology. Ferris' College of Professional and Technological
studies, and Kendall College of Art and Design are based in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
College courses are also offered at several Michigan College campus sites through
the Ferris State University College of Professional and Technological Studies.

The group presentation, by one of our admissions recruiters, includes information
on academic offerings, scholarships, housing, student life, and costs. A question
and answer period follows the presentation and includes a few surprises! Lunch is
provided at one of our well known dining facilities on campus. After lunch, guests
may take part in a walking tour of campus led by one of our exceptional student guides.
The walking tour takes approximately 1 hour.
