The Computer Information Systems Bachelor of Science degree, offered through the College of Business at Ferris State, prepares computer information systems students to be managers of computing systems by providing programming, systems analysis, network administration, and database management skills. Earn a CIS Degree and move into entry-level jobs such as: systems analyst; systems integrator; systems architect; network administrator; applications programmer/analyst; software developer; computer support specialist; engineer; systems administrator; systems programmer; project leader; database administrator; and, business analyst.
The Computer Information Systems program has close relationships with industry through an industry advisory board and offers internships as a practical hands-on CIS job experience. The hands-on approach in the Computer Information Systems bachelor's degree program gives our college CIS Degree students a real-world look at their field.
The Computer Information Systems degree program provides maximum flexibility for college students that major in CIS, and easily changes with the market place. The core curriculum of our computer information systems cis degree is aligned to a national standard (IS 2002) which was produced by the ACM, AITP, and AIS professional societies. This core curriculum was created from skills and attributes listed in thousands of cis degree job advertisements for computer information systems positions.
The CIS computer degree curriculum provides college CIS students with a broad understanding of core business functions, competency in computer programming, knowledge of information technology infrastructure, and a sound foundation in systems analysis and design. Applicants of the Computer Information Systems program must present evidence of graduation from high school or the GED. To enter a Bachelor's of Science degree - CIS Degree Program in Business, applicants are expected to meet two of the following: a minimum high school grade point average of 2.50 (on a 4.00 scale); ACT math score of 19 or higher; an ACT reading score of 19 or higher.
The Computer Information Systems program at Ferris State University leads to a Bachelor's of Science degree. Graduation from the Computer Information Systems program requires a minimum 2.0 GPA in core computer CIS degree classes and overall. Computer Information Systems students must complete all general college business education requirements as outlined on the General Education website.

The group presentation, by one of our admissions recruiters, includes information on academic offerings, scholarships, housing, student life, and costs. A question and answer period follows the presentation and includes a few surprises! Lunch is provided at one of our well known dining facilities on campus. After lunch, guests may take part in a walking tour of campus led by one of our exceptional student guides. The walking tour takes approximately 1 hour.
