The History of Ferris State University

The History Task Force

The History Task Force seeks to preserve and commemorate the history and traditions of Ferris State University. The committee was first formed in 2002 by then president, William A. Sederburg. The charge to the committee was to plan the celebration of W.N. Ferris' 150th birthday on January 6, 2003. From that event, the committee members have worked to recognize other significant events in the University's history, including Helen Ferris' 150th birthday celebration on September 7, 2003, the formal dedication of the Founders' Room at the Rankin Center, the 75th anniversary of the Alumni Building, the rededication of William's Auditorium, as well as many other projects, including developing the historical displays at the Timme Center. Future plans include recognizing the 125th anniversary of the founding of the Institution in 2009. The HTF meets each month on the last Tuesday at 11 a.m. If you would be interested in serving on the committee or a subcommittee, please contact the chair, Mary Kay MacIver at 231.591.3739 or email maciverm@ferris.edu
