Beckie Mills (B’87)
Beckie Mills (B’87) , Osceola, Ind., has been named business manager of Baker & Daniels’ South Bend office. Mills, who joined Baker & Daniels in 1993, has served as marketing and recruiting coordinator in the South Bend office since 2002. Baker & Daniels LLP is one of Indiana’s largest law firms with more than 370 lawyers and legal professionals.

Eddie Luck (B’88)
Eddie Luck (B’88) , Greensboro, N.C., was named the Guildford College’s women’s tennis coach. Luck joined Guilford’s athletic department in January 2008 as the Quakers’ men’s tennis coach, guiding the team to a 10-9 record and its first Old Dominion Athletic Conference Tournament victory last spring. Luck coached the women’s tennis team at Ferris from 1992 to 2000, leading the squad to an 83-0 conference record, eight consecutive league titles and six NCAA Division II National Tournament appearances. From 1993-96 he also coached the Bulldog men to a 54-19 record.

Micah Bell (EHS’98) , Valparaiso, Indiana, writes, “While on a recent convoy escort mission from Kuwait to Camp Cedar near Al Nasiriyah, Iraq, I spent some time in the Camp’s MWR (Morale Welfare and Recreation) facility. The first thing I saw was this awesome banner. I’m here on my second tour in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, serving as the Assistant Operations Officer for 1st Squadron, 126th Cavalry of the Michigan Army National Guard. While I’m over here, my wife, Beth, is home with our two sons, Evan (4) and Camden (1). Beth is a high school math school teacher outside Valparaiso, Ind. I work for the National Park Service as a Wildland Firefighter at Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore, at least when I’m not deployed. Dennis L. Johnson (B’62), West Palm Beach, Fla., president of Denny Johnson Enterprises, Inc., has been recognized by Cambridge Who’s Who Executive, Professional and Entrepreneurial Registry.

Jerry Glidewell (B’69), Rochester Hills, Mich., recently retired as a middle school teacher for the Clawson School District after 36 years of service.


1970s

Bobbette M. Morgan (E’72), San Benito, Texas, has been named the Houston Endowed Chair for Education and promoted to full professor at The University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College, School of Education, curriculum and instruction department. Morgan serves as director of the doctoral program and chaired the committee that designed the Ed.D. in curriculum and instruction with a specialization in bilingual studies.

Robert D. Potter, (B’72), Coldwater, Mich., was recently elected president of the Bronson Rotary Club. Rob is also president of the Bronson Chapter of Habitat for Humanity and serves on the Branch County Habitat For Humanity Board of Directors.

Carl Piersma (P’74) was appointed assistant professor of physician assistant studies and clinical coordinator with Grand Valley State University’s physician assistant department. He is also adjunct professor of pharmacotheraputics at Western Michigan University.

Ron Neal Jr. (B’75), Reed City, Mich., received the Osceola County Liberty Bell Award in recognition of his volunteer work.

Daniel Kozakiewicz (T’76), Midland, Mich., was elected chairman of the Associated Builders and Contractors of Michigan board of directors.


1980s

Det. Sgt. Matt Conquest (EHS’86), Milford, Mich., was appointed commander of the West Oakland Major Crime Task Force, which brings together investigators from jurisdictions in southwest Oakland County.

James Selke (B’88), Clarkston, Mich., and his wife, Beth, are the new owners of Classic Lanes in Rochester Hills. The 30-year-old, 32-lane family entertainment business is an iconic part of the Rochester Hills community.

Kenneth Carlson (B’92), Denver Colo., recently transitioned from Miami to accept a position as vice president/senior investment manager at Wells Fargo Bank’s wealth management division.

Steve Vachon (P’93), Ada, Mich., was promoted to regional pharmacy manager for Cancer and Hematology Centers of Western Michigan.

Joshua White (EHS’93), Holly, Mich., was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for service in Iraq.

John Mande (B’95), Iron Mountain, Mich., opened John A. Mande & Associates Insurance Agency Inc. in Iron Mountain.

Megan (Milleville) Orsini (AS’95) and her husband, Steve, celebrated the first birthday of their fourth child, Charlotte, on Sept. 10, 2008. They also celebrated their 10-year wedding anniversary Oct. 2.

Mark Boody (EHS’96), Novi, Mich., a detective with the Novi Police Department, was honored with a first annual Circle of Light Award sponsored by CARE House of Oakland County. The award honors those who have devoted time and energy to fighting child abuse.


2000s

Terri Whittaker (AH’01), East China, wed Nathan Rosel of Grand Rapids.

Valarie Linnen (AS’05), Jacksonville, Fla., received recognition as Champion and Best Advocate at the Jessup International Moot Court Competition, Southeastern Regional in February. By winning, Lennen became one of six advocates from the United States to represent the country in the international competition. She graduated from Florida Coastal School of Law in May.

Lt. Justin Eastman (EHS’06), Greenville, Mich., wed Stasha Klavon Jackson. The couple resides in Jacksonville, N.C.

Dan Campbell (EHS’07), Omaha, Neb., has been hired as a merchant fraud agent for PayPal Inc., an eBay company.

Tara Rhyndress (EHS’07), Davison, Mich., wed Donald Whitmire of Montrose, where the couple resides.

Joshua Tobias (AS’07), Manchester, Mich., wed Katelyn VanCamp of Linden. The couple resides in Albuquerque, N.M.
