Foundation Benefit Sets Record
in Net Proceeds
More
than 290 friends of Ferris State turned out for the fourth annual
Foundation for Excellence benefit Nov. 1 at the Amway Grand Plaza
Hotel in Grand Rapids. The benefit set a new record with net proceeds
of $66,000. The funds are used to support the Foundation for Excellence
Scholarship program, the Exceptional Merit Grants Award program
and other University endowments.
Attendees heard from two Foundation for Excellence
Scholarship recipients, Andrea McNab, a pre-Optometry major and
Dan Johnson, a pre-Pharmacy major, along with David Pilgrim, professor
of Sociology and curator of Ferris State’s Jim Crow Museum,
who represented seven recipients of the faculty and staff Exceptional
Merit Grant Awards.
Straight Ahead, a female jazz group from Detroit,
rocked the house with songs from well-known blues artists.
