The Records Office has the responsibility to maintain timely and precise records of the academic advancement and accomplishments of Ferris State University students, while maintaining the soundness, security, and privacy of those records as delineated by the 1974 Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act. The office strives to provide excellent customer service to students, faculty members, administrators, alumni and the general public in the domain of academic facilities management, athletic and veteran eligibility certification, course registration, course scheduling, data analysis, information management, institutional planning, and record keeping. The Records Office uses its pivotal university position to add value to the information which it manages by participating fully in activities to recruit, retain, graduate, and assist in the placement of the most academically talented and diverse students possible. |
Goals
- Improve the delivery of traditional student service functions and evolve new services in an entrepreneurial spirit to address the needs of our diverse and changing student population.
- Achieve closer linkages and form partnerships with the faculty, counselors, and advisors to support each in teaching and serving the needs of the student populous.
- Use the Records Office's pivotal university perspective and highly trained staff to support the overall mission of Enrollment Services including retention and recruitment objectives.
- Add increased value to the management of information by conducting analyses to identify implications and solutions in the area of academic facilities management, course availability, student retention and other areas as appropriate.
- Continue to appraise our current systems and customer service goals through continuing assessment surveys of users to determine methods of improving services, self-testing and investigating new resources and programs.
- Increase cooperation and information exchange among university offices which serve the same customer base allowing for increased expedience, efficiency and quality of services to these customers with the aim of providing a one-stop-shopping student services climate.
