ORIENTATION
|
Prior to attending Orientation:
- Complete your MyFSU sign on and password.
- Submit $150 Enrollment Deposit.
- Complete Housing contract and pay $200 housing deposit.
- Complete Medical Questionnaire and immunization records.
- Provide the Admissions office with an updated college transcript.
What should I bring to orientation?
- Comfortable shoes and casual clothing as you'll do some walking and possibly stair climbing.
- Inclement weather gear such as warm coats, hats and gloves if attending Spring Orientation (January), and umbrellas and raincoats if you are attending Summer or Fall Semester Orientation (May/June/July/August).
- A cell phone or walkie-talkies to communicate with your family if they come with you.
- A great attitude! You'll have fun!!

What should I bring to registration?
- MyFSU sign on and password
- Copies of high school or other college/university transcripts that include courses completed and grades earned
- If you were a dual enrolled, Fast Track, or Math and Science Center student, please remember to bring your most recent transcript from the college or university where you were enrolled.
- An electronic or paper planner
- Any work, athletic, or other schedules that will influence your academic plan
Goals of Registration:
- Develop your academic plan
- Work with advisors & professors to develop a strategy for balancing your program requirements with general education and other graduation requirements
- Consider opportunities to earn course credit for prior learning through our College Credit-by-Exam Program (i.e., CLEP)
- Learn about important academic success seminars and programs like tutoring, Ferris State University Seminar (FSUS), Structured Learning Assistance (SLA), and the Writing Center
- Learn more about how to use MyFSU and other online tools
Registering for Classes
As a student at Ferris, you are provided myriad opportunities to learn, both in and out of the classroom. Developing your academic schedule of classes is the core of your academic plan. But it is more than just registering for classes. Developing an academic plan allows you to develop important skills such as planning for a career, understanding how the University and your College are organized, balancing your hopes with your abilities, managing time, and adapting to change.
Developing these competencies will allow you to become, not only a successful student, but also an engaged citizen who makes valuable contributions to your community. We’re glad you chose Ferris and look forward to supporting you during your time here and after graduation!
