The Financial Aid Process

Transfer Students

Financial Aid

Financial Aid does not automatically transfer with you from another school. In order to ensure that you will have financial aid when you transfer to FSU, please complete the following steps as soon as you determine that you are transferring:

  1. Make sure that you have completed an application for admission to Ferris State University and that you are officially admitted to FSU. You will receive an official letter confirming your admission when you have completed all of your application requirements. Please click here if you would like to complete the Ferris State University Application for Admission online.
  2. Make sure that Ferris has access to your Federal Student Aid Report (SAR), which is the result of your FAFSA. If you did not list Ferris as one of the schools you were considering when you competed your FAFSA, then you need to revisit the FAFSA website, and select “Add or delete a School Code” under Step3. FSU’s school code is 002260.
  3. Make sure that you complete any additional requirements such as verification forms, proof of selective service registration, etc. Once your file is complete and you are admitted to Ferris, the Financial Aid Office will send you an award notice offering you the best financial aid package available to you at the time you apply. Log into MyFSU to make sure you have completed all requirements.
  4. Notify the financial aid office at your old school that you are transferring to Ferris and ask them to cancel your aid at that institution.
