Michigan Merit Award (MEAP)
The Michigan Merit Award Program (MEAP) is a non-need based gift aid program awarded by the State of Michigan. To qualify, students must score at a level of 1 or 2 on all four MEAP tests (reading, writing, math, and science). Eligible students will receive an award of $2,500.  Students will be notified during or just after their senior year in high school if they are eligible. A completed on-line certification form is then necessary to actually receive the funds.  This certification is required by November 15th of the academic year it is to be awarded.  (Click Here for web site)

Students who graduated in 2000 and 2001 have seven (7) years from high school graduation to use the award.

Students who graduated in 2002 and after have four (4) years from high school graduation to use the award.

Students who graduated in 2003 and after must divide the award over two consecutive academic years.

Beginning with the graduating Class of 2005, students who receive the Michigan Merit Award for their high school performance scores may receive an additional award of up to $500 if they had qualifying scores on two or more MEAP tests while in the 7th and 8th grade.

Beginning with the graduating Class of 2007, students must use their award at an approved in-state institution only.
