Scholarships and Financial Aid

Health Profession Student Loan

* Pharmacy funds exhausted for 08/09

* Optometry funds exhausted for 08/09

Health Profession Student Loans are available to students enrolled in either the College of Pharmacy or the Michigan College of Optometry. Only students enrolled full-time (9 or more credit hours), who have financial need are eligible. The funds allocated for this program are limited; therefore, Ferris State University exercises a first-come, first-serve policy for awarding individual funds to students. Students must have completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  Award amounts vary. Repayment begins one year after graduation (or leaving the curriculum.) The interest rate is fixed at 5%. Students wishing to receive this loan must provide parental federal income tax returns to the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid (regardless of the student's age or marital status.)

Graduate PLUS Loan
The Graduate PLUS Loan is available to students in a graduate or professional degree program, who are enrolled at least half-time. A completed FAFSA is required. The loan requires a credit check to determine eligibility.

Some benefits include:

  • Students may apply for an amount equal to the cost of their attendance less financial aid already in place.
  • Forbearance is available to allow students to temporarily postpone making payments during repayment.
  • The Graduate PLUS Loan can be consolidated with your other federal loans after you graduate.
