Introduction

Welcome to the Ferris State University’s project management virtual office for Information Technology (IT) projects. This site has been established to help guide our customers in requesting IT projects.

How do you know if your request is a project? If it meets two or more of the following criteria:

  • Requires 80 hours or more of ITS total work effort
  • Requires effort from more than one department
  • Requires institutional funds (exclusive of salaries)
  • Has a large university impact (affects all faculty, affects many students, Banner integration, etc.)

Information Technology Services (ITS) is in the process of implementing project management methodologies intended to improve processes, communications, and success of IT projects. To accomplish this, IT needs to thoroughly identify resources and assign priority to university projects in alignment with our mission and strategic plan.

Organizational Support Model

Information Technology Services’ goal is to collaborate with all divisions and departments to establish priorities on projects to ensure IT is aligning its resources with the University. To accomplish this in a highly integrated technology environment, the University has established the following groups to review and prioritize IT project requests:
