The year 2012 marks our fifth annual Festival of the Arts celebration. In the middle of winter, the Festival's variety of events presents a great way to break up the doldrums of the season and awaken the senses. It is a great way to stimulate creativity and find inspiration.
The Festival of the Arts is truly a collaborative effort between Ferris State University and the Big Rapids community to provide instruction and entertainment that often only larger cities get to enjoy. Whether it is music, cinema, dance, acting, painting, pottery, welding, art or architecture that stirs your soul, you will find it here. With musical and theatrical performances, as well as art and design exhibits and workshops for all ages, this year's Festival has something for everyone -- be it a film screening or an origami lesson. Festival organizers -- your colleagues and neighbors -- have worked hard to create a diverse, engaging mix of opportunities.
One of the best venues to enjoy the arts in town is at Artworks. Our recently remodeled facility has made it a Big Rapids destination site to enjoy the arts, browse for unique gifts, and participate in its many arts and humanities programs and classes.
So, we invite you to open up your day planner or mobile device and fill February with all the exciting artistic events you can.
