Software Standards - Windows

The FSU Computer Standards Committee is recommending that the following software packages be recognized as the standard software load supported for faculty and staff personal computers on campus:

  1. Windows 7 Operating System (SP1 Professional)
  2. Lotus Notes Electronic Mail Client version 8.5.3 (moving to Office 365 in February/March 2014)
  3. Internet Explorer 9
  4. Mozilla Firefox 19
  5. Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1
  6. Microsoft Office 2013 Suite
  7. Adobe Acrobat Professional XI
  8. Snagit 11
  9. Acrobat Reader and Flash plug-ins
  10. Java 1.6 update 31
  11. ZENWorks 10 client

In a student computer open lab, we recommend the same software be installed on the machine with the following exceptions:

  • Lotus Notes will not be loaded on the machines for e-mail
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader XI will be installed in place of Acrobat Professional XI unless licenses have been purchased for the lab computers

Departments that have additional software requirements or have programmatic requirements should contact the Technology Assistance Center.

Student personal computer software recommendations are available here.
