Commencement CeremoniesCongratulations on your upcoming graduation from Ferris State University! We invite you to participate in the Spring 2013 Commencement ceremony honoring your achievements and the successful completion of degree requirements.
You may attend the ceremony at Big Rapids on May 10-11, 2013, or you may choose to attend the ceremony in Flint instead of the Big Rapids ceremony.
The event in Flint takes place in conjunction with Mott Community College. This year the event will be on:

Candidates who plan to attend the ceremony in Flint, must contact the Flint office no later than April 4, 2013 so that we are prepared for your attendance!
Out of respect for both Mott and Ferris graduates, candidates must stay for the entire graduation ceremony. Please plan on arriving no later than 1:30 p.m., and staying until the ceremony has completed – most likely by 4:00 p.m.
Seating in the arena is not reserved. All seats are available on a first-come basis to families and guests of candidates. Please advise your guests to arrive early. No admission tickets are needed. A map to the Perani Sports Arena is available from GoogleMaps.
Graduation Reception
We know this is an exciting event in your life, and one you want to share! In addition
to the Graduation ceremony itself, we also provide a smaller more intimate reception
for our graduates. This will provide you an opportunity to celebrate with your fellow
graduates, instructors, and staff. Our Flint reception will be Friday April 26, 2013, from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Gateway. Hors d'oeuvres will be available, as well as cash bar. Please RSVP for this event
by calling the Flint office, so that we have headcount for food orders!
Caps and Gowns
All candidates walking in the ceremonies must wear the traditional cap and gown.
Caps and gowns may be purchased from the Lundberg bookstore in Big Rapids by Friday,
May 3, 2013 (or you will have to pay extra shipping charges to have it in time for
the Flint ceremony). More information regarding ordering your caps, gowns and announcements is available
on the commencement website.
Regalia may be purchased at the Graduation Fair on Tuesday, March 26 from 12 - 5:30 pm in the Rankin Center Dome Room on the in Big Rapids. You may also purchase your cap and gown from the James L. Lundberg Bookstore any time between March 27 and May 3, 2013. To ensure you get the proper gown size you are encouraged to purchase your gown early. After April 26 gown sizes may be limited. Note: Students attending the Flint Commencement do not have to purchase an honor cord we will provide them at the ceremony.
If you are unable to visit the Graduation Fair or campus in person, you may contact the Bookstore at (231) 591-2607 to request that your cap and gown be shipped to you (a shipping fee will be charged).
If you require a special size, please contact the bookstore prior to April 26, to ensure timely delivery.
Diplomas
Diplomas will be mailed to you by your dean's office approximately 6 to 8 weeks after completion of degree requirements.
Graduation Announcements
Both standard and personalized graduation announcements may be purchased at the Grad
Fair or through the Lundberg bookstore. The bookstore may be contacted by calling
(231) 591-2607. Please allow at least two weeks for personalized announcements.
