Summer Internships: Noah Gale

Ferris State University students gain valuable work experience through internships. Internships also can confirm or redirect career decision-making, provide marketability, develop people skills and enhance classroom learning. Many academic programs require one, but the experience is encouraged regardless to provide students with a better understanding of what will be expected of them in the workplace.

Many students are participating in myriad internships this summer. Meet:

Noah GaleNoah Gale

He is: a senior from Hart, Mich., majoring in Insurance and Risk Management.

His Internship: Noah worked with Meijer, Inc., in their corporate offices in Walker, in their claims department. He reviewed cases of in-store injuries, importing video into a program where appropriate, and reorganized a vendor list tied to certificates of insurance.

How Ferris Helped with the Internship: “I got assistance from professor David Brown, and the College of Business’ internship coordinator. We considered options, and I applied to Meijer, who made me an offer.”

Future Plans: To continue gathering experience in Insurance and Risk Management, building work opportunities, so as to become more marketable.

Other Activities at Ferris: Noah is a member of Gamma Iota Sigma, a fraternity for students of Insurance and Risk Management, as well as Actuarial Science.

Ferris Core Value he Relates to: Collaboration. “It’s important in any case. I took part in many meetings, and a table top exercise, which allowed for the exchange of ideas, and offering opinions.”

Making a Difference at Meijer: Noah allowed for office processes to continue, by assuming duties of a team member who went on maternity leave.
