Spring is in the air as Ferris State University alumni and friends will share good times and great golf during the 27th annual Alumni Association Golf Outing on Friday, May 13 at the Bucks Run Golf Course in Mount Pleasant, Mich.
Director of Alumni Relations Brandi Behrenwald said that she anticipates having a 144-golfer field for this event, and has planned an exciting day for the Bulldogs who will travel to Mount Pleasant.
“We are one of the first outings on the golf season’s schedule, but in our history, we’ve enjoyed good weather for most of our events,” Behrenwald said. “This is certainly a favorite for Alumni Association staff and those who join us.”
The 2016 outing will be held for a third straight year at Bucks Run, where Ferris
Professional Golf Management Class of 2006 alumnus Jon Conklin serves as director
of operations and head golf professional.
“We enjoy giving our alumni this chance to play great courses around the Lower Peninsula,
and Jon and his staff have been fabulous to work with each year,” Behrenwald said.
“We certainly would welcome an eventual return to Bucks Run, but will announce the
location for our 2017 outing at this year’s event.”
Alumni and friends are encouraged to register online for the outing by the Monday, May 2 deadline. The $165 cost includes 18 holes of golf with a cart in a scramble format, complimentary driving range privileges, a lunch and dinner buffet, tournament apparel, hole-in-one and proximity prizes, and a raffle. Registration begins at 10 a.m., with lunch offered prior to the noon shotgun start. Awards and prizes are part of the dinner program, which begins at 5 p.m.
“We will have plenty of supporters on site to host a number of games on the course for our participants, and serve as observers for those taking part in contests,” Behrenwald said. “Proceeds from the outing support our association’s Legacy Scholarship, and other alumni activities throughout the year.”
