National Hazing Prevention Week Activities Hosted at Ferris

Students and student organizations are encouraged to stop by the hazing prevention table in the University Center between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 29 and Thursday, Oct. 1.

“The most important thing about hazing prevention is understanding the risk involved,” said Megan Ankerson, a senior in Finance from Traverse City, Mich. “I hope students will learn to speak against hazing and stop it when they see it happening.”

As part of National Hazing Prevention Week, at Ferris, two informational tables will host activities for students to raise awareness about hazing.

Tuesday, each participant can take a pledge of no hazing to receive a prize. Thursday’s table will consist of voting on posters submitted by students and student organizations. Students who vote for a poster will receive complementary coffee and cookies.

People can join the Twitter conversation, starting Tuesday, Sept. 29, by sharing ways to prevent hazing at Ferris or by tweeting a fact about hazing, using #FSUNHPW. The student or student organization with the most retweets, by Thursday, Oct. 1, will receive a prize.
