Many community members have had this debate: Who has the best pizza in Big Rapids?
It’s time to put the debate to the test and vote to help decide the best pizza in
town.
“Za Best of Za Best” is open to Ferris faculty, staff, students and community members. The event will take place at the Interdisciplinary Resource Center on Ferris’ main campus from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 25. For $5, attendees can taste pizza from Ferris State University Dining Services, Jet’s Pizza, Pizza Hut, Pizza King and Mancino’s Pizza. After sampling the pizza, taste-testers will cast their vote and the pizza-making winner will be announced at the end of the event. The night will include opportunities to win prizes through social media and various activities during the event.
“‘Za Best of Za Best’ is the first event of its kind at Ferris. Some pizzerias are even creating secret one-of-a-kind pizzas specifically for this event,” said Event Coordinator Shelby Austin, a senior from Coopersville majoring in Public Relations. “This event is a great opportunity for the community, university and businesses to come together, eat pizza and support a great cause.”
Proceeds will help send members of the Ferris State Public Relations Student Society of America chapter to the PRSSA National Conference this fall. Our Brother’s Keeper, a homeless shelter in Big Rapids, will also be receiving 15 percent of the profits from this event.
The Ferris State Chapter of PRSSA is a nationally affiliated organization that provides students with real-world experience and professional development on campus. Each year, a national conference is held by PRSSA to expand student’s opportunities within this organization.
