Ferris Alumni Association to Host its 25th Annual Golf Outing May 16

Ferris State UniversityFerris State University is hosting the 25th annual Alumni Association Golf Outing on Friday, May 16 at the Bucks Run Golf Course in Mt. Pleasant.

The Alumni Association expects a full field of 144 alumni to participate.

The cost is $165 per player and includes 18 holes of golf, commemorative apparel, cart, practice range as well as lunch and dinner with awards, prizes and raffles. Registration begins at 10 a.m. followed by lunch and an opportunity to practice prior to the 1 p.m. shotgun start.

“The Alumni Association reaches out to a variety of locations where our Ferris alumni are located and active,” said Jeremy Mishler, director of Alumni Relations, who noted 25 sponsors for holes, lunch and dinner. “This is an opportunity for the Alumni Association to engage and update them about what is happening at the university as well as to assist them in finding connections to foster a greater involvement at Ferris in Big Rapids and statewide.”

A sandwich buffet lunch will be served at 11 a.m. and a full buffet dinner will be served after the golf outing, at 6 p.m. Awards will be presented for the first-place teams and drawings will be held for other prizes.

Proceeds from the outing will support Alumni Association programming and the Association’s Legacy Scholarship Endowment. Last year, the Alumni Association awarded $30,000 in student scholarships as a result of the support generated from alumni events.

Bucks Run is an award-winning golf course that was designed by Jerry Matthew. Jon Conklin, the head golf professional at Bucks Run, is a class of 2006 alumnus of Ferris’ PGA Golf Management program. Conklin will direct the day’s activities in collaboration with the staff of Ferris’ Alumni Relations Office.
