PGA Golf Management Program-Ferris State UniversityVIDEO: A Case for the New PGA Golf Management Learning Center

Plans for Ferris State University’s future PGA Golf Management Learning Center are taking shape. In conjunction with the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame’s relocation to a new and permanent home at Ferris, and the hall’s class of 2014 induction, the public will get a sneak peak at the future center and home of the hall of fame on Sunday June 8.

Ferris is hosting a welcoming ceremony to highlight progress toward building the new PGA Golf Management Learning Center at Katke Golf Course. The hall of fame dinner and induction ceremony begins at 5 p.m. in the Holiday Inn Hotel and Conference Center. Prior to the dinner and induction, registration for the golf outing is 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., a complimentary golf instruction clinic is scheduled for 10 a.m., the golf outing’s shotgun start is at 11 a.m. At 4 p.m., the official PGAGM Learning Center welcoming ceremony and cocktail reception will take place in the Katke Golf Course Clubhouse.

In late 2013, the Michigan Golf Foundation and Ferris forged a partnership to relocate the hall of fame at Ferris and to incorporate space for it in the design of the future PGA Golf Management Learning Center.

June 8 also serves as an opportunity to honor the founders of the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame, Stan Aldridge and Ken Janke, as the hall begins this new chapter in its permanent home at Ferris.

“Stan Aldridge and Ken Janke were the pioneer founders of the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame. Due to their vision, generosity and passion, notable individuals of Michigan golf history are honored while their records of accomplishment are preserved,” said Jack Berry, a 2003 MGHOF inductee and a 2007 recipient of the PGA of America’s Lifetime Achievement Award in Journalism. “As importantly, their steadfast service to the legacy of the game have inspired others to carry on the mission of the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame. Michigan golf is forever thankful for Stan and Ken, a dynamic duo who knew how to get things done.”
