“Ferris Has Talent” will take place in Williams Auditorium on Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 8 p.m. All students are invited to audition for a chance to perform on stage and showcase their talents at this event.
“The process of submitting an online application acts as the audition. Each submission is to have a media attachment that showcases the talent the applicant would like to perform at the event,” said student Cory Armstrong, president of the Ferris chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.
The submissions will be reviewed and judged by the “Ferris Has Talent” selection panel. The 15 applicants who receive the highest scores will be invited to perform in the show. Submissions are due by Sunday, Feb. 16 at 11:59 p.m.
Applications are available for download on the “Ferris Has Talent” Facebook event page, https://www.facebook.com/events/621274754616152/. Completed applications are to be submitted to FerrisHasTalent2014@gmail.com.
“There is no winner; this is simply an opportunity for Ferris students to showcase their talents. Anyone who is brave enough to take the stage is a winner in my mind,” Armstrong said.
“Ferris Has Talent” was created last spring by a group of Ferris resident advisors. The NAACP Youth and College Division of Ferris will host this year and hopes to make it an annual event for the organization. This free event is open to the public.
The event is funded by student activity fees as allocated by the Finance Division of Ferris Student Government. Any person who needs special accommodations to attend should contact (231) 591-2685 or CLACS@ferris.edu at least 72 hours in advance.
For more information, contact Armstrong at (313) 415-6525 or NAACP vice president Omari Moore at (313) 574-3066.
