School of Digital Media Begins Using Google Glass Technology

GRAND RAPIDS – The Ferris State University School of Digital Media took a step in November to add Google Glass to its instructional resources.

The School of Digital Media added Google Glass to its curriculum to give students and faculty the opportunity to stay on the cutting edge of design. Faculty and students will be focusing on the Glass Development Kit, which is technology to build innovative applications that highlight program curricula and learning outcomes.

“Glass could potentially allow our school to collaborate with many other colleges within the university to fulfill the needs of the greater student population,” said Andrew Smith, a Digital Animation and Game Design faculty member from the Ferris-Grand Rapids campus. “It will be interesting to see what we can fulfill with our early access to this new technology.”

The School of Digital Media plans to use Google Glass to keep up with the evolution of communication. The use of Google Glass will allow students to be better prepared for popular trends in the marketplace.

“We try our best to adapt and change to follow suit with popular trends in the professional marketplace,” Smith said.
