As part of Bulldog Beginnings, Ferris State University students can participate in
a campus social media scavenger hunt for a free T-shirt, fun and, potentially, grand
prizes.
The primary goal of the SocialFest Instagram Scavenger Hunt is to promote positive
social media engagement among students in an active and fun way. This fall’s challenge
is set for Tuesday, Aug. 26 beginning at 9 a.m. and running until 3 p.m. from the
South Campus Quad, near The Rock Café.
“We’re excited to collaborate with the Bulldog Beginnings team to host the Instagram
Scavenger Hunt for new and returning students,” said News Services and Social Media
Manager Sandy Gholston. “We believe that this event will be a great activity for students
to utilize social media in a fun and positive way while showcasing some of their Bulldog
pride.”
As part of the challenge, student participants will visit six on-campus locations,
snap a “selfie” picture that clearly shows them at the location and share it on Instagram
using the #FerrisSocial hashtag and tagging @ferrisstateu. The Instagram Scavenger
Hunt locations will be announced the weekend of Aug. 22-24 on the Ferris website and
via the official Ferris social media platforms, Facebook and Twitter.
Participants who collect the six “selfie” photos will receive a free T-shirt, while supplies last. Successful participants must provide their first and last name, hometown, academic major, year in school and a valid Ferris email address. The six most creative participants will receive a grand-prize item of either a Ferris backpack or pullover. Grand prize winners will be contacted regarding how to claim their items.
“We’re looking forward to engaging our new and returning students through this activity, awarding some cool prizes and playing a small role in welcoming our students back to Ferris,” Gholston added.
SocialFest is designed to promote positive social media engagement for students while also striving to promote some of the many resources and services available to students on campus.
The Instagram Scavenger Hunt is co-sponsored by Bulldog Beginnings, the News Services and Social Media Office, and The Sorority Women of Panhellenic.
