Ferris State University is set to welcome new and returning students to Big Rapids for the Fall 2014 semester that begins on Monday, Aug. 25.
New and returning students will have the opportunity to participate in different on-campus
events, many of which are part of Bulldog Beginnings. Highlighted events include Meijer
Madness, First Class Carnival and a social media scavenger hunt.

Important Dates to Remember
Wednesday, Aug. 20 – The late registration period begins.
Thursday, Aug. 21 – Residence halls open at 8 a.m. for first-year Honors Program students and their peer mentors.
Friday, Aug. 22 – Residence halls open at 8 a.m. for new and returning students. Students moving into residence halls on Friday will be greeted by Bulldogs in Action, a team of students and student-athletes who will be available to assist.
Bulldog Welcome is the kickoff event for Bulldog Beginnings and will take place at Top Taggart Field at 7:30 p.m.
Saturday, Aug. 23 – Backyard Bash begins at 3 p.m. on South Quad by The Rock Café. Students can expect a variety of free games and activities.
Meijer Madness takes place at the Big Rapids Meijer store, where there will be a live DJ, a photo booth and more. Meijer Madness begins at 7 p.m.
Sunday, Aug. 24 – Office of Multicultural Student Services Transition to Success event.
Monday, Aug. 25 – First day of Fall 2014 semester classes
Wednesday, Aug. 27 – Bulldog Beats and Eats is a lawn concert that is held on the South Quad by the Rock Café. The concert begins at 6 p.m.
Thursday, Aug. 28 – Drop/add classes
The Founders’ Day Celebration begins at 3 p.m. and is open to all faculty, staff, students and local community members. Founders’ Day is an opportunity to familiarize with university departments, take part in different novelty activities and enjoy an ice cream social.
Monday, Sept. 1 – Labor Day (No classes, all offices closed)
