Poet, hip-hop artist, actor and community activist Michael Reyes will perform and host “Who’s Got Talent” on Friday, Sept. 27 at Ferris State University.
The free event, at 7 p.m. in Williams Auditorium, is part of the university’s Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration and is sponsored by the Hispanic Student Organization, Music Industry Management Association and the Office of Multicultural Student Services.
“Who’s Got Talent” will feature a variety of performances by students. Prizes will be awarded to the top three acts.
The event will be hosted by Reyes, a Chicano/Mexicano community activist who combines history and current events with performance to fuse education and entertainment. He has been featured on HBO Latino’s Habla Series, the PBS documentary “DreamMakers” and National Public Radio, among others, and has been a featured speaker at national conferences, including the United States Hispanic Leadership Institute and the National Conference on Race and Ethnicity.
“Michael Reyes is raw and has amazing talent,” said Hannah Hackbardt, president of the Hispanic Student Organization. “He is truly gifted.”
