The Asia Project Coming to Ferris March 5

The Asia ProjectSpoken-word artist and cancer survivor Asia Samson will share his life story in the form of The Asia Project at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 5 at Ferris State University’s Williams Auditorium.

Samson combines humor and inspiration while provoking self-reflection for a gripping performance, said Katie LaPrairie, vice president of internal affairs for Entertainment Unlimited, the campus programming board. The stop in Big Rapids is part of The Asia Project’s Awakening 2013 College Tour.

“I highly recommend students attend this event to not only hear the message the performer conveys but also to learn more about spoken word poetry and how words can be presented to create a more meaningful message,” LaPrairie said.

Samson has been featured on HBO’s “Russell Simmons Presents Def Poetry” and BET’s “Lyric Café,” and appears regularly on campuses nationwide.

“Those who attend will understand Asia’s story and how deep someone’s emotions can really trigger your own and even inspire you,” said LaPrairie a junior from Omer, Mich. studying nursing.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, visit the University Events Calendar: http://calendar.ferris.edu/ or call (231) 591-2610.
