Ferris State University students can discover the wealth of workout equipment and fitness classes available to help them stay fit by attending Rec Fest on Tuesday, Aug. 27 at the Student Recreation Center.
The event is part of Bulldog Beginnings, a program designed by a committee of representatives from several Ferris organizations to welcome new students to campus. Returning students also are invited to attend.
Rec Fest, hosted by Ferris’ University Recreation from 6 to 10 p.m., will give students the opportunity to explore URec, which provides access to fitness classes, including yoga, dance and aerobics, a climbing wall, pool, indoor basketball and volleyball courts, and an indoor track.
“Rec Fest gives students a chance to see everything the URec has to offer,” said Fernando Labra, coordinator of Intramural and Club Sports. “Many students don’t know we have a rock wall and that we rent out equipment for things like camping and skiing.”
The event will include team tournaments and games that include flag football, volleyball, basketball, spike ball and more. There also will be giveaways, raffles and prizes, including free pizzas, URec cups, shades, Frisbees, and Rec Fest T-shirts.
