Ferris State University is celebrating Asian American Heritage Month by hosting “A Taste of Asia” from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 17 in the Rankin Student Center Dome Room.
“The learning objective of this event is for participants to attain an enhanced level of Asian cultural awareness in an interactive, engaging and overall entertaining environment,” said Michael Wade, Office of Multicultural Student Services assistant director. “We feel that the format of this event will allow individuals of diverse backgrounds to connect with one another and to build understanding.”
The collaborative event is a tribute that showcases different aspects of Asian culture such as Korean, Chinese and Japanese arts and crafts, a talent showcase featuring Hmong, Vietnamese and Chinese fashion, and an assortment of Asian food dishes.
“The event is another opportunity for student learning and cross-cultural engagement, which are areas of development that are essential for all,” Wade said.
The free event, sponsored by the Office of Multicultural Student Services and the Asian Student Organization, is open to the Ferris community.
