TTamie Grunowamie Grunow has been appointed associate vice president for Human Resources at Ferris State University.

Grunow comes to Ferris from Delta College in University Center, Mich., where she has served as director of Human Resources since February 2001.

“I was especially interested in joining the Ferris State University team, because I am fully aware of the top-notch reputation, growth and respect of Ferris,” Grunow said.  “Ferris has a reputation for educating graduates that are highly sought after upon graduation.”

Grunow said she is impressed by the “excellent leadership, community support and respect” for Ferris and is anxious to begin her new position Monday, Aug. 6. She will direct and coordinate human resources activities for the university, including employment, employee relations, compensation, benefits, employee training and development, and safety.

Her previous work experience also includes a six-year stint in human resources at Saginaw Valley State University, also in University Center, and in risk management at Saginaw General Hospital in Saginaw for three years.

Grunow, who earned bachelor and master degrees from Saginaw Valley, also is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources and is past president of the Michigan Community College Human Resources Association.

Grunow also is a certified facilitative mediator and workers compensation professional, and is certified in appreciative inquiry. She also is a licensed private investigator in Michigan.

Grunow replaces Warren Hills, who now serves as associate vice president for Human Resources at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo.
