Ferris State University will host the 12th annual Ferris Video Festival on Friday, April 20 in the Interdisciplinary Resource Center.
The festival’s keynote speaker is Peter Weidenfeller, who will discuss camera motion and the production experience. His film credits include the recently completed “Cool as I Am” and “Dead Man’s Burden,” which currently is in post-production. Weidenfeller also is expected to share the story of his career and discuss freelancing during the 9:30-10:15 a.m. session in College of Business Room 111.
The festival also includes several breakout sessions covering a variety of topics,
including field audio recording, copyright rules and laws, and camera operation. Recently-employed
Ferris graduates Kyle Mayer and Sara Tuttle will lead a session that focuses on internship
tips and more for students as they prepare to transition from college to their careers.

In addition to the presentations, the festival includes a workshop from 2 to 3:30 p.m. featuring a Fisher 10 dolly, jib arm and track. Students will have an opportunity to observe and participate as Wiedenfeller, Round and Mathis demonstrate their roles as a scene is performed by Ferris Theater students. A question-and-answer period is scheduled from 3:30 to 4 p.m. with presenters.
Student Showcases are 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 19 in College of Business Room 111.
The Ferris Video Festival is sponsored by the Television and Digital Media Production Department, the Gamma Epsilon Tau and Media Communications Association student organizations and through funding from the Finance Division of Student Government.
