Human bowling, photo booths, shutter shades and a free concert on Ferris State University’s Campus Quad are all part of Ferris Fest 2012 set for Saturday, April 21. The event headliner is All Time Low with special guest Travis Porter.
Ferris Fest begins at noon and runs through 6 p.m. on the Campus Quad. This event is free and open to all students and the community.
All Time Low has been one of the top five bands requested by students to play at Ferris Fest according to an annual survey “year after year,” said festival coordinator, Alex Lorenz. The Baltimore, Md. band is known for such hits as “Time Bomb,” “Guts” and “I Feel Like Dancing.”
“Ferris Fest is unique, because it’s free and open to anyone. I can’t think of another college that has something this huge on campus that’s free,” said Lorenz, a junior at Ferris majoring in Public Relations. “Every year, we like to have a diverse range of artists. Because the event is free, we like to please as many people as possible. We want there to be something for everyone.”
Student emcees Byron Terrell Williams and Jon Horning will take the stage at noon
to begin the festival. Here is the scheduled list of performers:
Main Stage Acts:
12:30 p.m. Kris Hitchcock and the Small Town Son
2 p.m. Act As One
3:30 p.m. Travis Porter
5 p.m. All Time Low
Second Stage Acts:
12:05 p.m. King Rut
1:35 p.m. Kabare and Sam FranjiONE
3:05 p.m. Pharaoh
4:35 p.m. Overdrive Orchestra
“I think students will like it. We already have had a lot of positive feedback on our Facebook and Twitter pages,” Lorenz said. “And face it, even if students don’t like the artists playing, they’ll still come because it’s free and that much fun.”
Ferris Fest is brought to campus by the campus programming board, Entertainment Unlimited
and the Finance Division of Student Government. This year’s event sponsors include
A-1 Auto Glass, Biggby Coffee, Buffalo Wild Wings, Campus Village Apartments, Country
Inn and Suites, Jet’s Pizza, Jimmy Johns and The Gate.
