World's Fastest Balloon Freak, John Cassidy, Coming to Ferris on April 18

CassidyGet ready for some comedy, magic and really weird things Ferris State University, as John Cassidy, the world’s fastest balloon freak, will entertain students at 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 18 in the Rankin Student Center Dome Room.

The event, presented by Entertainment Unlimited, the campus programming board, is free and open to the public. This event is for mature audiences only.

“We saw him at the National Association for Campus Activities and he was extremely energetic. He was running into the crowd to find people to bring on stage and was very exciting to watch,” said Allissa Witucki, interim director of Student Leadership and Activities. “He really got the crowd going.”

Cassidy holds several Guinness World Records, including “Most Balloon Sculptures Completed in One Hour” after creating 654 sculptures.

Evan Pazkowski, an executive board programmer for EU, also attended Cassidy’s performance at NACA and thought the comedian’s balloon skills set him apart from other acts.

“He had the opportunity to present a 15-minute version of his act, and schools could decide whether or not they wanted him. Most schools decided yes because of his outrageous style,” said Pazkowski, a freshman majoring in Music Industry Management. “I think students will love his act. A lot of people come to the hypnotists every year based on humor and audience participation, and I think John Cassidy balances both of those perfectly and throws in his unique balloon ability.”

The event includes audience participation. Students will be asked to pick numbers, participate in routines and even blow up balloons.

Attendees may receive a few balloons and prizes throughout the performance as well.

In addition to EU, the event is presented by the Finance Division of Student Government.
