In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Professional Recreation Association at Ferris State University is planning to “Climb for the Cure” up the indoor climbing wall in the Student Recreation Center.
The event is set to take place on Wednesday, Oct. 26 beginning at 5 p.m.
October is recognized as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. NBCAM is celebrating a quarter century of strengthening awareness, education and empowerment in relation to the fight against breast cancer.
The organization’s primary event goal is to raise funds to support the Susan P. Wheatlake Cancer and Wellness Center of Big Rapids. Funds have been raised through registration fees and sales of PRA “Fight Harder” T-shirts.
Registered climbers plan to seek donors to offer pledges based on the number of climbs the participant can accomplish. Climbers of all ages and skill levels were encouraged to participate in this event. The registration deadline, for climbers, was Oct. 14.
The PRA will have a wide variety of routes set up to provide event participants of varied skill levels with opportunities to reach their climbing goals.
In addition to raising funds for the fight against breast cancer, organizers believe this event will promote fitness and wellness.
