Excitement is on the rise for three Ferris State University students in the Master of Business Administration program as they gear up for the second round of a case study competition hosted by the Association for Corporate Growth, Inc. on Saturday, Feb. 26 beginning at 8:30 a.m. in Grand Rapids.
Dawn Case-Tahaney, of Lansing; Anne Minshall, of Delton; and David T. Verbeek, of Vassar are set to participate in round two of a mergers and acquisitions competition on the Grand Rapids campus of Grand Valley State University in Hager Auditorium in the Cook DeVos Health Sciences Building. The previous round was held on Jan. 22 in Big Rapids inside Ferris’ Interdisciplinary Resource Center.
Despite venturing into uncharted territory, in this next round, Verbeek expressed confidence in the ability of Ferris’ team to emerge with a top finish. His teammates share that confidence and excitement.
“This has been a great opportunity and I am excited about our presentation,” Minshall said. “I believe that there will be great competition at the event, but I also believe that our team is well positioned to succeed and I am looking forward to the final round. It would be great to have as much support as we can to showcase our university and it would be greatly appreciated by our team.”
The historical aspect of the team’s run also has factored into the excitement.
“I am very excited to take part in the competition,” Case-Tahaney said. “As the first team to represent Ferris, no one knew what to expect or really knew the level of competition, but the professors have been a great support system for us.”
Ferris College of Business officials are excited about the competition which will
have judges from banking and investment firms.
“Increasingly, the workplace expects our grads to think critically, adapt and problem-solve, and effectively present solutions,” said Dave Nicol, dean of COB. “Competitions such as the ACG Cup provide an invaluable opportunity for students to hone and demonstrate those skills.”
