Greg Gogolin, the 2010-11 recipient of Ferris State University’s Distinguished Teacher Award, will address graduates at this month’s commencement ceremonies in Big Rapids.

550 graduates who will walk in December’s commencement ceremonies on Saturday, Dec.
17. This semester’s commencement features two ceremonies as the 10 a.m. session is
set for the colleges of Arts, Sciences and Education, Education and Human Services,
and Engineering Technology while the 1:30 p.m. ceremony is reserved for the colleges
of Allied Health Sciences, Business, and Professional and Technological Studies.
Gogolin, who noted that it was “humbling” to be named Ferris’ 2010-11 Distinguished Teacher, is looking forward to speaking to the graduates and sharing some words of wisdom that he hopes may inspire this group of soon-to-be Ferris alumni. He earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Applied Biology and Computer Information Systems from Ferris in 1987 and a Master of Science degree in Computer Information Systems Management from Ferris in 1991. He earned his Ph.D. from Michigan State University in 2000.
Gogolin has secured approximately $2 million in grants and gifts in kind for Ferris. That includes a grant from the National Science Foundation to help establish the finest digital forensics laboratory in Michigan.
In all, approximately 1,075 people will receive a Ferris diploma at the end of the Fall 2011 Semester.
Tickets are required for this month’s commencement. Due to the large number of students who will be participating in the ceremonies, guest admission is by ticket only.
