Ferris Students Talk Shop With Nashville Stars

BIG RAPIDS – Music Industry Management students at Ferris State University will get the chance to first-hand pick the brains of industry professionals during a special, master class presentation at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 2, in College of Business Room 211.

Joining the Q&A discussion will be Nashville’s songwriting power couple Mark Selby and Tia Sillers, along with upcoming country artist Matt Jenkins and Ferris alumnus Rob Filhart, who currently is working in the Nashville area as associate manager with Dottore-DuBois Artist Management.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for our students to not only hear first-hand from an alumnus who once was in their shoes, but from industry professionals who can discuss the business from a behind-the-scenes perspective,” said Dan Cronk, MIM program coordinator.

The artists also will be on hand for the MIM program’s first fundraiser, Backstage Pass. Performances are scheduled to start off the evening event at 7 p.m. on April 3, at the Holiday Inn and Conference Center in Big Rapids. Tickets are $100 per guest. Each backstage pass will provide access to an evening full of social and professional networking opportunities, heavy hors d’oeuvres and an open bar. All proceeds will benefit the MIM program.
