BIG RAPIDS – Scott A. Schropp of Saginaw was appointed as a director to the Ferris Foundation Board of Directors. The Ferris State University Board of Trustees approved his appointment during the board’s regular meeting Friday, Nov. 7.
Schropp is a partner with The Iles Wealth Management & Consulting Group at Merrill Lynch. In the financial services industry since 1984, he currently holds the title of certified investment management analyst, chartered advisor in philanthropy, certified trust and financial advisor, and certified financial manager.
In 2007, he received his certificate in endowments and foundations from the Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania. Prior to joining The Iles Wealth Management Group, Schropp was president and CEO of Merrill Lynch Trust Bank of Michigan.
Prior to joining Merrill Lynch, he was director of private banking, and senior vice president and chief trust officer with a major banking organization.
A graduate of Ferris State University, Schropp received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 1984. In addition, he is a 1989 graduate of the ABA, National Graduate Trust School at Northwestern University in Illinois, and is past chairman of the Michigan Bankers Association, Trust Executive Committee in Lansing.
Currently, he serves as philanthropic advisor with the Council on Foundations in Washington, D.C., and various committees for the Saginaw Community Foundation and Bay Area Community Foundation. He is an active member with the Northeast Michigan Estate Planning Council, Tri-County Economics Club, Association of Fund Raising Professionals, Michigan Nonprofit Association, MidMichigan Planned Giving Council and the Council of Michigan Foundations. He also is a board of director member of Junior Achievement of Northeast Michigan.
Schropp lives in Saginaw Township with his wife, Lynne, and their two children, Wesley and Ashley.
