Grounds Crews Prepping Campus for Return of Faculty, Students

pictureBIG RAPIDS – Physical Plant grounds crews have been hard at work in recent weeks preparing campus for faculty and students who soon will fill campus corridors.

Students will begin the move-in process at the University’s 19 residence halls beginning at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 27.

Faculty also will return on Aug. 27 for “Welcome Back Day,” featuring keynote speaker Steve Gilbert – Teaching, Learning and Technology Group president. Hosted by the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning, Gilbert will discuss “Getting from the Mythical Past to the Chimerical Future.”

Gilbert will examine the current state, future directions and issues surrounding online teaching and learning. He also will frame the day-to-day issues that faculty and the University should consider in order to advance student learning in online environments. Breakout sessions to discuss the day’s theme, “Challenges and Prospects for E-learning at Ferris State University,” will follow his presentation.
