What is the Jump?

Your department's user accounts, file shares and workstations will make the big jump from Novell to AD.

Changes include:

  • The file shares will migrate from Novell to the AD.
  • The file structure may be different.
  • Login scripts will be changed.
  • Workstations will be put into the domain.
  • Novell client will be removed.

Note: If you need the Novell client reinstalled to get to special Novell shares in other areas contact the TAC.

After the migration your recent document links will not work properly if the documents were saved on your shared drives.  Refer to Help with shortcuts to files and drives to learn more.

If you didn't have an Active Directory account before, we will be creating one for you. Your Active Directory "username" will be the same as your "MyFSU id". We will contact you to let you know the password.

Printers will be set up on the Active Directory print server (FSUPS1). Once migrated over to Active Directory, the printers will "follow you" if you go to another workstation. You might see the old Novell print icon in your printer list for the same printer if it was installed manually.  These old printer icons can be deleted. To learn how to delete your old printers, click here.

Have other questions about accounts/passwords/and what things will be like without the Novell Client on your desktop? Check the FAQ's, or contact TAC.
