The Ferris Foundation Board of Directors extended $37,000 in Exceptional Merit Grant Awards to 6 members of the faculty and staff. Recommended by the Gifts and Grants Committee, the following proposals will receive a portion of the funding:

• David Baker, Department Chair, FSU GR Digital Game Design, “Northern Bend”: An Immersive Interactive Environment
• Arn McIntyre, Director, Michigan Energy Center, College of Engineering Technology, Home Energy Analysis Community Outreach.
• Christopher Westerkamp, Associate Professor of Biology, College of Arts & Sciences, Reliability and Prediction of Field Tests for Lactate Threshold in Trained Distance Runners.
• James Wing Sergeant, Public Safety, Equipment for Rape Aggression Defense Program.
• Bonnie Wright, Associate Professor of Sociology, College of Arts & Sciences, Integrating Peer Interaction and Community Collaboration into Online Learning with Video.
• Changqi Zhu, Changqi Zhu, Assistant Professor of Biology, Molecular and Cellular Mechanisms of Activin Signaling Regulated Aging Process in Drosophila Melanogaster.

The Gifts and Grants Committee develops policies and procedures, and recommends additional resources for Exceptional Merit Grants and Foundation for Excellence Scholarships.

The committee also monitors scholarship awards for compliance with donor specifications, recommends and monitors grant disbursement, and recommends student scholarship recipients for the Foundation Scholarship.
